Chapter 5 Notes

4.0 Technologies

It is called 4.0 Technologies because it is the 4th industrial revolution. These technologies are many and various, but this chapter only focuses on 9.

These are:

AI (Artificial Intelligence) Also known as machine learning
Aims to create intelligent machines that imitate human behavior
        It Can Be Used For
          Visual Perception

          Speech Recognition

          Decision Making

          Translating Languages

          Can work 24/7

          Replacing humans slowly but surely.

    AR (Augmented Reality)

Instructions can be delivered in real time, in context, as complex 3D or 2D digital assets, and without shifting attention away from the workplace.

      Can Be Used With
Video See-Through Technology (Phone or Tablet)

Optical See-Through Technology (Smart Glasses or Goggles)

        Autonomous Robots

An Autonomous Robot is a robot that performs tasks with very high amounts of autonomy.

Usually Considered to be part of Artificial Intelligence

Traditionally used in high-volume, Repetitive processes.

    Biometrics

Enhances the security of a workplace by ensuring that someone is who they say they are

Used in smartphones for quick identification

      Cybersecurity

Protects data and information from hackers and bad actors who may want to manipulate/steal the data.

      Data Analytics

Allows companies to compare and contrast data from different quarters and times.

      5G Technology

The fastest internet technology available. Up to a 20% increase in speeds from 4G.

      Industrial Internet of Things

The way our machines and tools in the warehouse interact with each other to give data based on their activities.

      Remote Learning

Allows workers to learn their tasks from home at a distance. Mainly used during times of emergency such as when a viral infection takes hold (COVID-19)
